GEMMA AND EVAN(WAS ELVIS)
Following is part of a great message we received recently from the lovely
lady and her daughter who adopted Gemma and Elvis (now Evan).
"Gemma & Evan are both doing great. We love them more every day. Evan has
come out of his shell completely and seems to be on his way to becoming a
normal, healthy little boy. Oddly enough, his collection habit seems to be
diminishing. The dogs have sort of a "communal" pile of toys and bones in
one area of the yard that they most like to play in. Evan is not afraid to
assert "ownership" of his toys and bones anymore either. Gemma loves to be
hosed down to cool off, and Evan even let me hose him down once, as well. He
still much prefers to lay in the water, though.

Late evening, they come inside and get cuddles and usually get brushed. They
play with their "inside" toys and pass out on their mats in the lounge room.
When it's time for bed, Gemma prefers to sleep in my room and Evan prefers
to sleep outside. I was really surprised the first time he insisted on going
back outside to sleep alone. I guess he has really settled in and is
becoming an confident, independent, well-adjusted dog. His leg seems to be
doing better & better. He runs, jumps and digs with the best. Sometimes you
can tell it's sore, but it doesn't seem to slow him down for long (Editor's
note: Evan was surrendered to Friends of the Hound by his racing owners
after breaking a leg)."
