Tweed Valley Banana Festival Street Parade
Sat 23rd August - 12 noon - Murwillumbah
Friends of the Hound will be entering the Street Parade, & we would love to have as many greyhounds & supporters walking in the parade as possible. The theme this year is Medieval Madness, and many of us will be dressing up in our medieval garb & showing off our wonderful hounds. It is an excellent local promotion for the Greyhounds & a fun event.
As you may be aware, Greyhounds were held in high esteem during the middle ages - in fact, only royalty and nobleman were allowed to own them. It's a shame that Greyhounds are not held in such high regard in our modern society!
The Banana Festival Street Parade begins this year at Murwillumbah Showground & winds through the centre of town and finishes at Stan Sercombe oval. Bring your adopted greyhound/s, bring your foster greyhounds, or just come along in support (we usually have extra dogs that can be walked), dress up if you want - we want as many medieval kings, queens & princesses as possible, & just come & have some fun.
More events to be announced soon.
