Greyhounds are gentle loving companions looking for forever homes

2021 Calendar competition

This year we’re inspired by Richard Skipworth and his wonderful cartoons of Greyhounds.

We have massive and VERY exciting news!

You will not want to miss out on the 2021 Friends of the Hound calendar!

FOTH has collaborated with the popular Greyhound cartoonist, Richard Skipworth! Next year’s wall calendar will have fun, full-colour photos of gorgeous Greyhounds mimicking the greyt Cartoonist’s relatable poses. YES – YOUR hounds! We are matching Skipworth’s hilarious cartoons with photos of your hounds!

So go through your photos and get clicking for the chance for your hound companion to appear in next year’s 2021 FOTH calendar! We are looking for photos of DERPS, ROACHING, ZOOMIES etc.

Enter our photo competition >

The competition starts now and entries close Sunday 5th July, so hurry!

Photos must be of greyhounds that have been fostered or adopted through any adoption program (not just Friends of the Hound).

Commit to make a change

Friends of the Hound rescues and finds companion homes for around 250 Greyhounds from the racing industry each year.

They are freed from being caged, forced to race in extreme conditions and continually placed at risk of injury and death on the track.

Greyhounds in our care are desexed, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated, and often provided dental treatment and treatment or surgery for injuries. This all comes at significant cost for a volunteer-based, not-for-profit charity.

We receive no funding and rely heavily on fundraising and donations from our supporters.

So we are putting a COMMITMENT call out…

Can you commit to make a monthly donation – just a few dollars each week – to Friends of the Hound so that we may continue our important rescue and adoption mission?

Help us to help more hounds.

Adoption not Destruction

The Friends of the Hound Greyhound Adoption Group is dedicated to the welfare of Greyhounds.

Our mission is to create public awareness of the Greyhound as a gentle, affectionate dog and excellent family pet, and to save and find companion homes for as many beautiful Greyhounds as possible. We advocate the ADOPTION, NOT DESTRUCTION motto.

Through a comprehensive program of promotion and education, we aim to dispel any lasting misconceptions about Greyhounds and increase public awareness of their plight. Greyhounds are not just race dogs, they make lovely family pets and companions and are suitable dogs for suburban homes and people of all ages.

Friends of the Hound Inc. is a volunteer-based, not-for-profit rescue charity, relying solely on fundraising and donations, the generosity of our local community and the efforts of our members, to achieve our aims.

All Greyhounds homed through Friends of the Hound are desexed, vaccinated and wormed, and are homed with their own warm coat, collar, lead, toy, tag and muzzle.
